HTnL:
Hyper Text netscape Language

Welcome to the wonderful world of Hyper Text Netscape Language.

The first page I ever wrote for the Internet was as UN enhanced as it gets, aside from a few (p) and (h's) there wasn't a lot of markup. True the page hung on the Internet like a limp noodle, but I coded it in less than a half an hour and was able to show anyone who could type their name how to make a web page. .

There was no discussion over what browsers could see the page and which couldn't, it was blissful simplicity. It was HTML 2.0.

Ahh and then Netscape 1.0 came into my life...which has never been as blissful or simplistic since.

Now, I'm not complaining about how Netscape has "enhanced" HTML, I can't live without the control and customization that HTnL offers me, I love those tables, the background colors, the image control (note that frames or blink don't make the list) . The problem is that I find myself scrambling every time Netscape puts out a new browser, handling complaints that people with other browsers get a mess when they look at my page, and with Netscape 2.0b discover that my old friend the quotation mark was now a bitter enemy!.

Now maybe I've been hanging around the Internet too long, maybe I still thump my mouse at keeping open standards on the net, maybe I've just been driving too fast on this great "superhighway" (or rather super driveway), call me old fashioned, but don't you think Netscape should at least attempt to share proposals for enhancements to HTML, or maybe ask those of us building web pages what we'd like to see be added to HTML or rather HTnL, and finally maybe give a little warning of new codes before they hit the Internet (especially with things like that quotation treat!). .

The time is now, we need to take a stand with Netscape....

....oops. gotta run Netscape 2.0b3 just finished downloading.
